    Rescue on Nippletop slide

This climber certainly is lucky to be alive! What an amazing effort to save his life and rescue him!! Thankfully they were wearing helmets, which certainly had to be a factor in saving his life! If he has Head Injuries with one, death more than likely would had occurred without one!

Peak Experiences: Danger, Death, and Daring in the Mountains of the Northeast

Thanks Alan... No, I still haven't received mine yet and disappointed. I'm sure Carol will straighten it out for me. :) I'll be interested to read your stories when I get it... two of mine are the same ones which have made it in 'Women With Altitude' and 'Adirondack Peak Experiences.' However...

Peak Experiences: Danger, Death, and Daring in the Mountains of the Northeast

Have you heard anything yet peakbagr? I hadn't realized it was out on the stands yet either. I have two stories in this book myself and the Publisher apparently is sending out Complimentary Books to those who contributed to the book. I haven't received my copy yet. :(

Which of the ADK 46 are *easier* in winter?

Iroquois is another deep, muddy trail in other seasons, along with between Donaldson and Emmons for a short distance. Of course the Santanoni's is another big muddy mess along the Bradley Pond trail.

Losing Weight and Getting into Shape

Just don't cut back too much. If you deprive your body of all the great things you loved before, you will end up rebelling and starting to binge on those foods you loved before, as you will start to crave them. You can eat anything you want but in moderation only. Instead of 4-6 slices of pizza...

    a few recent moose pics

Very beautiful photos. I bet a few of these would make it in the National Geographic Magazine or any Outdoor Magazines. I just love the ones of the moose in the swamp with the Autumn Foliage.

    Adirondack Hundred Highest

To be honest, it was SO MANY years ago. I was a follower, so didn't pay much attention. I just remember getting to Indian Pass Brook and instead of taking the "right" fork to head up to Lost Pond Peak, we took the "wrong" fork. I do believe we went up on the same compass bearings we would had...

Pregnant woman hit by car while fleeing bear!

Oh, this is so bizarre. Let's hope it's not a boy and gets the name Theodore Bear and nicknamed, "Teddy Bear." :D

forum or article on lost winter hikers

Bill, could you please give me the names of the hikers this incident happened to? I am trying to look in the Newspaper Archives for this article and having a tough time but if I had names to put in search engine, something just may come up. Thanks in Advance.

Shin Murnane passed away on the trail

Tom, maybe you could cross this thread to ADK High Peaks for Carol, "Mrs. Shin?" I'm sure she would like this, as this thread is an absolute beautiful tribute to her husband.

    A Question For The Ladies

I'm not afraid of bugs, they don't bother me, it's rodents I don't like.

    Medicinal Benefits of Hiking

Grumpy what a story. I hope your recovery from Cancer is a successful one. With your attitude it will be. :) I also have a story to tell. It's a long one, so I certainly won't tell it all, just the basics. In May 2002 I was in an automobile accident in which severely damaged my spine, a result...

ADK Photo Quiz - Round 3 (Contains inline images)

Yes but I don't always follow them. :D Sorry. It's actually a little misleading does it mean one guess total OR can one guess on each picture, once a day?
