We did a short overnight to the hut via 19 Mile Brook Trail. The temps were around 0 when we started. The trail was postholed and difficult to manage in some spots especially after the Carter Dome Trail Junction. The next day going back down was great, fresh 3-4 inches of snow. Great for snowshoes. The snow was definitely deeper going down to the Ponds and the Hut. Hit -5 at 9pm but warmed up a little to about 5-10. We did not try to navigate up Wildcat or Carter just because we just do not feel comfortable quite yet going to the high summits with our minimal winter backpacking experience. We still had a great time as we always do.

Snowshoes required, microspikes were a good alternative to switch to. Carried crampons but didnt use them

Green square.
