Just thought that some of you might find the weather reports for MLK weekend of interest. The following reports are excerpts from the Mt. Washington avalanche advisories.

Monday: http://www.tuckerman.org/avalanche/archives/2006-01-16.html
The Canadian freight train of wind came barreling from the NW arctic lands throughout the day yesterday. They went nuclear last night as we sustained velocities well over 100mph (160kph) and went into castastrophic meltdown with a peak gust of 141mph (225kph)!! We are now gusting 120-130mph (195-210kph) and are expected to stay over 100mph (160kph) for the day.

yesterday's average windspeed was 101.9mph(164kph)

Interesting, as SK, Nate & I drove west past Washington (Rt. 2 from Gorham) about 5:45 p.m. yesterday, any chance of alpin glow was obliterated by a swirling cloud atop the rockpile. And, Sherpa calmly noted, "I'll bet it's over a hundred up there right now."
