Question: Would you go with Yak Trax and poles or would you also throw in the crampons just in case? Something tells me that the snow may not be the issue but that ice might come into play now.
Whenever you have cold nights and warm days, patches of ice on the trail are a possibility. Frequenly icy in the early morning, and wet or muddy later.

Snow

Thanks guys. I've been working on the Adriondack and Catskill peaks as of late and haven't visited the WHites since 2001 so I am really excited. Those of you in the area who know of good places to eat in the Jefferson, Gorham area let me know. If any of you want to hang out some night in town I'd be up for that too. Thanks again.

termination dust

I drove up to Pinkham today to see the view of a dusting of snow above 5000 feet. What a beautiful sight against the colors of autumn!
