We parked on South Royalston Road. The TH for Newton Reservoir has been expanded to include a good size parking area, enough for several cars. There is parking for several cars outside this area. We walked to Millers River along Old Stage Road to pick up Interconnect. We walked that to the junction of Thousand Acre Brook trail and Observation Hill trail. The former was blazed yellow with stenciled "A"'s, while the latter was blazed with stenciled "O"'s. We walked A to a dirt road then looped back on O. Both trails were old forest roads, easily followed and well blazed throughout. A contains two rickety bridges, but it is simple to find dry ford alternatives. The A and O trails meet much more closely than is suggested by the map. Both trails are drier than I'd anticipated. We saw mallards and mergansers in Millers River, and Great Blue Herons in Newton Reservoir. Boo found a deer(?) vertabrae near Newton Res. The pedometer function of my watch estimates this loop at 7.25 miles.
