My dog needed a peak for his second round of the 52wav list, as Monadnock doesn't allow dogs. We chose Black Mt in Jackson as we had never done it before. It is not hard or long, but I really enjoyed it. We went up the old ski trail and the footbed was fantastic. The cabin is pretty cool, although it's locked and available to rent. The summit has two views, but they are pretty obscured, hence Black is a de-listed peak now. The forest is very nice, some excellent trees and many small streams crossing the trail for my dog. If your in the area and want a short hike, this is a nice walk.
