Day 1:Left from Barnum Road lot on 12/30 Hiked to saddle between Black Dome and Blackhead mtns, made camp and then hike up to Blackheadand back down. Very windy day, good views along the way. Wind all night but excellent camp spot, most wind was higher up but strong gusts kept us awake.
Day 2: Early start heading back out the same trail, hike up Blackhead was quite challenging, but quick elavation gain makes it rewarding. No views today, in the clouds, but nice anyway. Suffered with full packs on the decent, it has been a while!
Conditions: Good snow cover with 10 - 15" of fresh powder on top off base. Trail was mostly broken up to Thomas Cole, we broke the rest. No ice.
Equipment used Snow Shoes all the way (ascenders on MSR helped a lot for steep ups!)
