Overall not great trail conditions. The connector trail from the Burrows parking was icy, so we put on our micro spikes. Forest City Trail alternated between packed snow and bare spots which were mainly wet leaves. Higher up and on LT it was mostly packed snow and was fine. I put on crampons once the trail got steeper, although my partner did fine keeping the spikes on.

The main problem is Burrows Trail. There were so many deep post-holes that at many points there was barely anywhere to place your foot in between.

For me, one of the many pleasures of winter hiking is that the descent is fast and easy on the knees. Having so many post holes basically ruins it for everyone else that follows. The post holers should have been wearing snowshoes.

The post hole problem takes up approximately the top half of the trail. The remainder of the trail is fine, with snow alternating with some bare spots.

Equipment needed: micro spikes, poles
