Date of Hike: 4/17/09
Trail Conditions: Monorail from the trailhead to the summit ledges, a few bare/muddy patches down low. Cutoff to Middle Sister Trail, and Middle Sister Trail, much less well-defined than Champney and Piper trails.
A number of people asked about summit conditions: There was almost no ice up top, and what there was was very microspikable.
Special Equipment Required: Wore microspikes all the way to the summit ledges, where I wanted stability more than traction.
Comments: Gorgeous day, 50+ mile 360-degree views, steady light traffic on the summit and the trails. Presidentials look great under their snow cover. Pretty windy up top.
