On Monday Sept. 16, 2011, we took South Arm Road to the logging road and made it to the unofficial start of the hike.
All cairns described in Bob & Geri's 6/18/05 trip report were intact and very helpful. We did not like hiking in the swampy area and found many herd paths in this area, just before the summit cone of a fir wave.
No special equipment was needed
You get a nice view of the mountain from the parking area. The canister is soaking wet inside.
