Liberty

Thanks to all the organizers. It is a beautiful tribute to the 9-11 victims and all our military folks. Thanks to all our friends who helped carry the poles and fly our sons flag high above Liberty. Liberty was one of his favorite mountains in the whites. Many people stopped by, even with the iffy weather. The flag was up at 11:00 and stayed till 1:15 when the thunder started to roll through. Looking across at flag on Flume was spectacular. We could see the flags on many mountains, even Owl Head. Way to go! We look forward to next year. Thanks to all that participated.

Al and I climbed up Six Husbands Trail to the summit of Jefferson to meet Pete and Kenny. Pete had a USMC flag in honor of his son in Iraq. We could hear what sounded like a drum beating as we came over Jefferson's Knee. Turned out it was the large US Flag that Skiguy and Bob and Jeri had erected with considerable engineering skill. Just as we were starting to head south on the Gulfside Trail the clouds broke over Adams and we could make out the flag flying on that summit.

Glad you could see it on Adams. We thought you might have missed it since we took it down early due to climate and tecnical difficulties. I remember as soon as we got it down the clouds broke between Jefferson and Adams and we were like...shoot!
