Date of Hike: 12/24/07
Trail Conditions: 10-20 inches of consolidated snow. Several blowdowns. Many new water crossings...and best of all a brook up to six feet wide running down the trail most of the way to the ridge. Gale River Loop Road is plowed or snowmobiled all the way to the summer trail head.
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes, poles, and hip waders.
Comments: This trail best avoided till it dries out, unless you really like water. Garfield Ridge Trail packed out in both directions on ridge. Be careful following the snowshoe tracks between the two main crossings...they make a few additional crossings of the river.
