Date of Hike: 11/24/2012
Trail Conditions: Dry trail low, icy ascending to the hut, rime ice above treeline. Some snow in Eagle Pass.
Special Equipment Required: Light traction above 3500 ft.
Comments: Trail clear and dry to Eagle Pass. Small amount of packed snow in Eagle Pass, clear again beyond. Minor ice spots until about 0.4mi below Greanleaf Hut, and then trail completely covered in flow ice. Area around hut clear, ice on descent to Eagle Lakes, minor ice through the scrub. Patches of ice above treeline.
Very high winds on summit, and the last 200 feet of elevation gain. Summit clear and out of the clouds midday, but clouds rolled in at about 1:30 while I was knoshing at the hut with another group, who were descending from the doing the loop. Saw many people doing the ridge from Falling Waters, and some in the other direction. Met one group ascending at 2:30, 1/4 mi below the hut. On trail 9:15, hut at noon, summit at 1:10, back at trailhead at 3:30. Watched the setting sun light up East side of the Notch as I was getting in the car.
