Date of Hike: Saturday 4/28

Trail Conditions: To add to the information provided by Bryan...

Hancock trail fairly dry and clear--thank you!

There are many water crossings on the Cedar Brook trail that are now fairly high and sometimes a bit confusing because of the river braiding, plus the need to do short bushwacks to get to good crossing places. Care needed on these crossings especially if the rocks are ice-slicked, as they were on chilly Sat morning.
Hancock loop trail--Going up to South Hancock--thick ice still and very slippery as of yesterday. I think it will take a while for that ice to melt out of there--doesn't look like much sun gets there. We didn't do the loop over to North, a bit fearful of the longer stretch over on the ice. But we heard that that side was less slick, since exposed to more sun.

Special Equipment Required: Going up the loop trail microspikes were essential. We saw a couple of people barebooting around the loop, looking pretty uncomfortable. Poles very useful.

Comments: Beautiful day, albeit colder than usual for a late April day. Fun hike with Ian and Mary--nice to hike without any "48" pressures and just turn around when we felt like it.
