Trail Conditions: Trail mostly in good shape. Could use some brushing out after the first mile. Bugs not bad. Water availability for dogs along this trail is limited. The potholes at mile one catch rainwater and there is a small seep coming out of the rock between the First and Second Caps.
Equipment: Poles extremely helpful for the descent (probably more or less essential if your knees are in anything less than perfect condition). Plenty of water. I drank as much on this 5 mile hike as I usually do on a hike twice as long.
Comments: Challenging. Not a trail for young puppies or old dogs.
