Kinsmans, N+S, Mt.Kinsman Trail

Great 2'nd day winter to be out. Bare ground at trail head, good firm winter snow above 3,000. Bare booted to 0.25 mi from ridge. Snow shoes provided good traction on ridge trail to north and south, and back down Kinsman. The ridge trail was crispy from the rain and wind storm of 12/21. Littered with fir ends and ice pellets blown off trees. All of this provided a firm base. Winter conditions on the ridge, high teens, 10-15 mph winds, visibility 0.1 mile, nice view of clouds up close. A few other groups were out, 10-12 hardy souls in total. Minimal blow down obstructions. No hard pan ice. Beautiful...
