Judging by the quality of all the news stories on this hiker's fall, the Conway Daily Sun appears to be the only news agency that hires capable reporters. Very detailed report on what happened:

Important details left out by other stories:
- They were off trail
- They were climbing the face next to the buttress (the buttress is the standard route, which is dangerous itself)
- The hiker couldn't continue due to the steepness, conducted four controlled slides, went vertical on the last one which sent him into a 40 foot uncontrolled fall ending with a face plant into the Fan.

I'm surprised they didn't either land DHART in the ravine or use a vehicle down from the cabin

Good info on the stuff left out... I was wondering if this happened while sticking on the main trail.

I have Huntington on my to-do list maybe next year. That will teach me to stay on the marked trail as best I can!
