Base Rd. in good shape. Ammo trail up to the hut was in good shape as well. Footing was good and the snow was mostly consolidated. A little loose in spots but nothing to worry about. The drift on the lee side of the hut is quite a sight to see. Trail to the summit of Monroe was not obvious so we did the best we could. Located the cairns further up the mountain and made the summit in no time. No views to speak of today as everything was socked in and foggy. Visibility was very low at times. Snowshoes are a must. Our axes and crampons never left our packs.

We did notice a safety issue though. We entered the emergency shelter (aka the dungeon) to have lunch and layer up for our descent. The smoke detector in the emergency shelter has a dead battery. Can someone please bring up a 9v and replace it. We would have done it but nobody told us. :D
