Lower half of Stony Brook is boot packed, choppy and somewhat annoying. The upper half has a decent snow shoe track with fresh powder and some drifting. The Carter Moriah trail north toward Moriah (the ridge) was broken out previously but has substantial drifting and a number of blow downs. Carter Moriah south from Stony Brook is unbroken.
Snow shoes recommended for upper Stony Brook and Carter Moriah. Lower Stony Brook is quite firm but could use a few more passes of snow shoes to even everything out.
Cold day, 0F at the trail head to start but not much wind and great views along the ridge.
