We took the lovely Brook Trail up Gunstock. A sign near the top indicated the summit was a short distance. It was actually a little further than that, not that we minded. On the Gunstock summit, we met a man who had finished his hiking of this range and earned his badge. We wished him well as he said he was going in for cancer treatment the next week. Then we went over to Beknap and climbed the fire tower for the best breeze of the day and before heading back we took a side trip (steep climb, far longer than we expected) to the site of a small plane crash, now also the site of a geochache. Met a man in good humor who had been doing some good trail work by clearing out vital waterbars and thus maintaining the integrity of a good trail.
