Date of Hike: 8/27/09
Trail Conditions:
- Rocky Branch: wet and muddy in the usual places
- Isolation: Fine up to fourth crossing, but increasingly uncleared, practically cluttered with blowdowns between tent sites and Davis path. Makes for slower going.
- Davis path: in great condition
Special Equipment Required: None really. Crossings were easy, no bugs.
Comments: A picture postcard day. Saw a grouse below the summit and aggressive gray jays on it; plentiful moose tracks and one bear track on Rocky Branch. A bear crossed I93 north of Tilton on the drive home.
