Mt’s Abraham, Ellen – via LT Lincoln Gap to Appalachian Gap

Mixed bag of high white billowy clouds opened and closed at seemingly at random to reveal views of sunlit valleys below. Humidity and intermittent rain made for some slippery slabs requiring us to slow our pace. Gap-to-gap 12 mile hike took us about 8.0 hours to complete. 360 degree views from Abraham are fine reward for steep climb from Lincoln Gap. Thrushes and black-throated sparrows hardly ever stopped singing the whole time. Good views from various lift stations many equipped with observation decks. Neither of us used bug juice. Bugs weren’t too bad ... although bugs did chase us off one observation deck after 15 mins or so. Descending to Appalachian Gap was more tricky than the trial up. Tricky enough to need ladders in some spots.

Comments: Great hike, great route!
