Date of Hike: 1-15-11
Trail Conditions: Well packed bootable powder up to Lonesome Lake. Fishin Jimmy trail from Lonesome lake to Kinsman Ridge trail was unbroken powder ranging from 12" to 18" deep. Kinsman Ridge trail to summit was unbroken powder 12" to 36" deep with drifting in sections. Trail conditions on the way down were much better, after several hikers had passed through.
Special Equipment Required: Used my MSR Denalis with the 8" tails for the entire trek. Once the trail becomes more packed, crampons would be advisable in the steeper sections.
Comments: A big thank you, to the couple that was ahead of me (I think they read this board), who volunteered to do most of the trail breaking duties. Overall it was a great day with perfect sunny weather until just after summiting. The onset of snow really created a nice atmosphere for the trip down.
