Date of Hike: 1/10/09
Trail Conditions: First part of the trail was packed out - once we got to the ravine we were breaking trail. Where the trail turns sharply left there was three feet of drifted unconsolidated unbroken snow. Snowshoes couldn't grab so we changed to crampons and were able to get above that deep section into trail where the snow was less deep and decided to keep going. We broke trail all the way to Middle Tripyramid.
Special Equipment Required: Poles - very helpful, Snowshoes - essential, Crampons - essential
Comments: The trail is pretty well broken out - some postholes from hikers who came behind us wearing crampons who did not make it past North Tripyramid. Long tough day. We banked some trail breaking karma points today. Enjoy!
