Date of Hike: 7/4/08
Trail Conditions: Some muddy stretches in the forest leading to North Moat & down below ledges in the forest on Red Ridge Tr.
Minimal blazing in the forest sections on both trails, had to stop & look for the trail in a couple of spots/ otherwise well-trodden & easy to follow.
Special Equipment:
Deep Woods Off along Lucy Brook to repel the mosquitoes.
Skeetos (& black flies) were non-existent on N Moat Summit & also when descending Red Ridge Ledges.
Comments:
Beautiful, clear day up on the Moats. Cool breeze & awesome VFTT!
10 mile loop hike, (2800 ft) complete with waterfalls, many open ledges & spectacular views. Highly recommended!
Met 2 groups doing the South to North Traverse!
