North & South Kinsman via Lonesome Lake and Fishin Jimmy, 3 Feb 2013
Trail conditions:
Lonesome lake - packed sidewalk of ice with 1" fresh snow
Fishin Jimmy - Ice, ice, ice. 1" fresh snow atop the ice down low, 2" higher up
Kinsman Ridge - packed snow, ice, couple inches fresh snow over the ice, the summits showed minimal snow cover down to rocks peeking out
Special equipment:
Traction, traction, traction. I wore crampons, the other two people ascending wore crampons.
Comments:
Tons of folks coming down LL. Only saw a 4 folks on FJ, 2 up and 2 coming down across from Cannon, and 4 on the ridge who came up over Bald Knob. The ice floes on FJ were pretty nifty-looking! Need more snow...
