Trail Conditions: There were 6 to 8 inches (10" at higher elevation) of unbroken snow over a deep snow base. There were no blowdowns. The last rivercrossing was easily managed with good snow bridges.

special equipment: Snowshoes were necessary & hiking poles were more than useful. Crampons were carried but were not needed.

Comments: Andy, Eric and I got an early start. We started just passed 7 Dwarfs. We chose to take the road instead of the ski trail. This turned out to be a mistake since the road was unpacked while the ski trail had tracks. We landed up packing the trail to about 3800'. We then heard people coming up the trail. It was Ed and Dave leading an AMC group. We were invited to fold into their group which we were only too happy to do. The trail breaking was a whole lot easier. The trail is now well packed all the way to South Twin. We were not greeted with any views but it was a great day on the trail. My thanks to Ed & Dave for their hospitality.
