Trail Conditions: Trail from Little River road to Haystack Rd is muddy, Haystack Rd is completely dry. North Twin Trail lower half (below the third river crossing) is ok, but the first two river crossings are un-crossable. Bushwacked up the east side of Little River to the third river crossing. Pretty easy going some muddy spots and small patches of snow.
The third river crossing is dificult but doable if you don't mind stepping on some submerged rocks.
After the third crossing you start running into more snow and pretty soon you will want to put on some snow shoes. We bare booted it all the way to the summit but had to duck walk up the mono-rail and did a lot of post holing.
Same thing on the way down.
Special Equipment Required: hiking poles useful, snowshoes would have been ideal after the third river crossing. Microspikes or crampons would have been better than bare boots.
Comments:Was expecting rain but had perfect weather for hiking. A special shout out to PM4139's 9 month old springer spaniel puppy, Molly, for completing her first hike.
