I figured the trails would be completely snow free by mid July so I took a drive out there with the goal of exploring the multitude of lakes in the area. Medicine Bow Peak will wait until later in the season. When it is clear, I can see the range from the house (they are about 65 miles away as the crow flies). The trailhead was at about 10000 feet (!) and most of the hike never got above about 10500 feet. I visited a number of lakes and the views were stunning, but there were quite a few skeeters, especially at the trailhead. The attached pics really don't do the area justice (they never do)IMG_8849.JPGIMG_8850.JPGIMG_8852.JPGIMG_8858.JPGIMG_8869.JPGIMG_8884.JPGIMG_8896.JPG
