Location
Richmond Maine on the mighty Kennebec!
Drove across ice glazed Rts 17/4/16 to CVR pullout around 8:30am.
Ice turned the 40 minute ride into 90 minutes...

Conditions for skiing were ideal. Plenty of glide.
Temps around freezing to start.
As a result we made decent time to AT crossing (90 minutes).
Skiing was nearly effortless all the way to the fork just below Caribou Pd.

Taking rt fork from there it was boney going across the bowl to jct below the uphill fork that takes you up near the ridge and to the rd that leaves to the left towards summit.

good snow on the way up and were able to ski sans skins to a point perhaps a mile from the summit.

Snowshoes for about a mile in snow depth of 16-24" but soggy and unstable.
It was a very moist day and the snowpack was becoming saturated.
A slog uphill, slowed to about 1 mph as snow turned to mash potato.

peaked out around 2pm.
Summit vftt were decent as we had views to Crockers, Bigelows, Abraham poking above undercast.
took a break and ushered in the new year with pbr and harpoon

Downhill was fast and furious. I suffered several wrecks on the way down. the conditions being a bit fast.

CVR had seen a lot of sun since the morning but still the ski out, though boney and flooded in spots, was quick and we were able to go summit to car in 3.5 hrs.

Looks like conditions will stay mild for a few more days so conditions could deteriorate rapidly
