Sept 11th New Hamp High peaks area

Hello, a group of us from Buffalo would like to particpate in http://www.flagsonthe48.org/
, but none of us seem to be very familiar with the area or the peaks in that area, can anyone point us in the right direction for possible hostles and not too technical a high peak?

Could you give an idea of your hiking experience so it is easier for us to recommend a peak?

Jackson, Pierce, Waumbek, Tecumseh are a few that come to mind as shorter easier hikes

As for the peaks, there are a couple of threads on that too. Some of the easier peaks are Hale, Tom, Tecumseh, Galehead.

Another Buffalonian...

We are actually relatively experienced, having done long hikes, backpacking, etc... except, being from Buffalo, we don't often get altitude.

We would be willing to tag along with someone who knows the area well, but I would love to do something that allows for some great views.

Peaks that are not that hard would be, Jackson, Waumbek, Hale, Tom, and Mt. Osceola via Tripoli Road. Some mountains are easier than others and some have difficult routes up them as well as easy ones.

There will be ten slots open for each peak. This was done to allow small groups and solo hikers to join up with others. Many folks don't mind the extra company and have built some good friendships by joining others. If you still need some extra assistance, feel free to pm me and I can help you with any details you have.

None of the mounyains would require any technical skills . . . all can be ascended via regular trails but if you want something that isn't more challenging, then the ones mentioned already are good choices. I think Jackson is one of the prettiest views for the least effort. So, that is the one I would recommend.

My vote is for Jefferson via Caps Ridge or Eisenhower via Edmands Path. Caps is a bit tougher, but fairly short. Possibly the most bang for your buck in the Whites. You will certainly feel like you are sitting in the middle of great mountains.
