Up the Marsten Tr after a road walk from Kidney Pond. The Tote Rd was easy to travel due to snowmobile traffic.

From the jct with North Brother, there was absolutely no signs of winter hikers going that way. The markers are not always visible, but with the GPS we found our way. Pierre decided to go straight to South Brother, so there's a bushwhack option if that's what you are into. From South to Coe, we, Meo, Oncoman and myself, broke in 12-18 in of soft snow. We manage to stay on the trail most of the time, but if you follow our tracks, watch out for the few wrongs we did.

From the summit of Coe we decided to go with the slide, backtracking was not an option. Only one big spruce trap for each of us between the summit and the slide. It was mostly snowy, we went down on the left side, with no major difficulties. The trail back to the jct was very easy to find. Snowshoes only, no crampons needed. Ice ax would have been useless because the snow on the slide was fluffy, and I could feel the rock underneath.

Magnificent views of Katahdin, and a great day overall. The whole trip from Kidney Pond took 11 hours.
