Location
Richmond Maine on the mighty Kennebec!
AT/LT to summit was hard packed and thin layer of snow. recent ice storm left trees and shrubs with up to 1/2" - 3/4" of ice coating.
Lots of debris, large and small on the forest floor and trail.
we barebooted and used ski poles but saw one pair of folks with snowshoes.
I would have used light traction if I had actually brought any. Not enough snow for me to deploy Snowshoes. Weather was otherwise warm, even with our 2:30pm start. Still brought all the layers - except the down.
Summit at 4:30 ish was clear and cold with glimpses of sun. Quick beer at summit to celebrate and we were off.
Back at car at 6PM.
