Trail conditions: Trail had unbroken snow of 4-6 inchs over a hard back snow base of 4 to 5 ft.. Hiking conditions couldn't have been better.

special equipment: Snow shoes all the way, The snow was soft.

Comments: The plan was for Lafayette but the access to the parking lot was unplowed and I got stuck. On continued on to the Highland Center and headed for Tom up an unbroken trail. Two hikers came up behind me while I rested at the Tom Spur Jct. One of them took over the trail breaking duties for the rest of the hike (my thanks to him). The snow between Tom and Field was deeper and the snow pack had us pushing through the tree branches. The descent from Field was snow shoing at its best (we made great time). The stop at Avalon was worth while as always. It was an incredibly great day to be on the trail but I only saw two other parties of hikers.
