I couldn't find anything on this question using the search...

Does anybody have a good idea of the width of the platforms at the Franconia Brook campsite (on the East Side Trail, on the east bank of the E.Branch of the Pemi)?

Many thanks,

It's been a year or two since I've been by the Franconia Brook Tentsite but I don't recall platforms at that site ( besides the caretaker's spot).

Hrm... Interesting...

According to the following PDF (I don't trust gov published docs, just to be clear) the site has 24 platforms.

http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/white_mountain/recreation/hiking/onfoot_1-4.pdf

I have to admit, I've just skied on by every time I've been there in the past 5 or 6 years and have never really checked out the camp sites.

In general, what is the width of "most" tent platforms?

More directly, are they 8' wide? (8' is the width of our 4 person tent)

PDF ... the site has 24 platforms.
They are packed down dirt/small rock spots, carefully engineered to be not flat.

Many of these not quite flat spots, maybe most of them, will accommodate your 8 foot wide tent.
