Route Hiked: Trail from Woodland Valley.

Weather Conditions: Sunny, high temperature 50F

Trail Conditions: Mostly bare ground below the junction with the trail to Terrace Mountain; snow and ice from there; the ledges on the way up to Wittenberg were very icy; the V-notch below the summit of Cornell was full of ice; the rest of the trail at higher altitudes was ice or hard packed snow.

Equipment: Barebooted up to the junction with the trail to Terrace Mountain. From there we either used stabilicers below the icy ledges changing to crampons above that point or microspikes from the trail junction to the summits. We carried snowshoes; but, didn’t use them. There was some postholing from earlier hikers; but, the trail was packed down hard enough that we had no problem. We bushwacked around the V-notch on Cornell.
