    I've seen the same thing at T-Lake Falls, where a shrine so to speak, is there in memory of those who took the "last ride" down the falls.:eek: I think it's an offering of some type....

    Was at the Upper Works trailhead yesterday....30" of snow at the trailheads, looks like someone icefishing Lake Sally....no recent reports of trials to Allen. The bridge over the Opalescent is still out according to the sign... hope that helps:)

    Blue is commonly used by foresters when crusing and marking trees for cutting....possibly they just had a bunch of blue, and was told use it when marking the line.

    I've used permetherin products for some time now with excellent results....usually on a hat works great for the buzzing critters. As DougPaul mentioned use it only on clothing....(I think it only bonds to fibers)

    PUR (Katadyn) Hiker...always in my pack. Had it for at least 6 years, way before Katadyn took over... never had a problem in winter or summer, just make sure you purge the unit before stowing...turn it over and pump out the water,(or disassemble and drain) spin the tubes around a few times over...

    I did a snow survey on Monday out "west"...Sagamore Rd had 15", with the rest of the area having about 18" or so...that was before the rain.. Yesterday, my "north" route had about 12 to 14" (Minerva-Newcomb-North Hudson), with 21" at Tahawus....after the rain. hope that helps! Go to the link...

    I'd go over the Blue Ridge Rd, but the N'way has some construction and it's "watched" very closley in the work zones..... As far as rain, "scattered" means scattered all over you, most likely when your'e at the farthest point from the trailhead! !!! ;) have a good trek!

    I've got a Mountainsmith Bugaboo.....one large compartment, a small inside pocket, outside pocket, internal "stay" and more straps and rings that one could ever imagine...had it for over 10 years and still going strong!
