We are hiking in Zealand to the Bonds and staying at Guyot overnight then back out via Zealand with a 9 year old. I was reading that the spring at Guyot Shelter is not always reliable - has anyone hiked the Bonds in the past two days and used the spring? Thank you for your response in advance.

Time for me to upgrade my cross country ski gear. I need skis and boots. Any suggestions? These will be the last set I purchase, so, don't mind spending a little more. :D

I might get a GPS for hiking at Christmas. I'm not sure if I want one, but if I do, what should I get? Or should I just practice using my compass? I'd appreciate advise and comments. And, just so you all know, I don't have the best "sense of direction" and I want to bag some bushwhack NEHH...
