If you buy WMNF day parking passes (aka "recreation passes"), don't bother on Saturday (not sure what else the "recreation fee" covers):

The White Mountain National Forest is pleased to join in celebration of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 30, 2006. "National forests and grasslands are America's playgrounds and provide healthful outdoor recreation opportunities for millions of Americans," said Tom Wagner, Forest Supervisor of the White Mountain National Forest. "As a way of saying ˜thank you' for supporting the White Mountain National Forest, visitors will not be required to purchase recreation passes on the White Mountain National Forest that day." . . . . Recreation fees will be waived across the White Mountain National Forest, however fees will remain in effect for overnight camping, cabin rentals, permits, reservations, and activities offered by concessionaires.
