I'm taking some kids up to Macedonia State Park/CT this weekend and I'm wondering if we will need snowshoes. Has anyone been in that area hiking this past week?
Thanks.

We were only a couple of miles from there on Sunday, snowshoeing on the AT between Kent and Cornwall Bridge. In the morning the snow was great but by afternoon it warmed up and got VERY sloppy and wet. It's supposed to be even warmer this weekend so at the least waterproof footwear would be a good idea.
Haven't been to Macedonia in years. Nice spot...have fun !
I predict the need for skates or crampons early, snowshoes mid-morning, hip boots by 1 and then perhaps bathing suits.
If the trail there is packed out it could be less challenging but it'll still be interesting. A pair or 2 of snowshoes and all the kids following in water proof boots should work.
