From the Loj to the Dam, a few inches of fresh powdery snow. On the way to Lake Arnold the trees had fresh snow on them and several inches on the ground. Beyond the turnoff for Mt Colden, the trail was blown-in in several places, and it was much less packed, often had 1-2 feet of snow. Beyond the Feldspar lean-to, the trail was freshly packed. At Lake Tear, there was a broken track to start up Gray, then everything was blown in and we broke trail up. I’m not sure we were on “the” path, but we were near it and then about ¾ of the way up intersected what was clearly a trail and stayed with that most of the rest of the way to the top. On the way down we opted to stay with the trail we had intersected rather than go back down the trail we created, again hit a few blown-in sections. Well packed trail down to Four Corners and to the top of Skylight. It was very windy on Skylight, much more so than Gray. Needed face masks and goggles. To Marcy, the trail was not broken from Four Corners, but within 10-15 minutes we ran into 2 hikers coming down. It was very windy at the top of Marcy, the same as it had been on Skylight. Fantastic views in all directions, you could see far today, we stayed as long as we could soaking it all in. Well packed trail back to the Loj.
