Dates of Hike: 7/18/08-8/3/08
Trail Conditions: Extremely wet. Rain most every day. Continuous rain for six days (7/19-7/25) non-stop. Trail was often running with ankle-deep water and boot-sucking mud was waist deep at at least one point. All stream crossings were approached with caution and the crossing of the Lamoille River was closed to hikers, where a roadwalk became the official route. Numerous blowdowns from Sterling Pond to Jay Camp.
Special Equipment Required: Garbage bags for protecting dry sleeping bag and dry set of clothing. A sense of humor, determination and willingness to adjust mileage expectations and adapt to the situation.
Comments: At least the weather was warm, and the springs weren't dry.
