Packed snow below treeline, which softened by early afternoon. Patches of snow, ice, rock above treeline.

Traction recommended; microspikes worked well, as would crampons. A few other used snowshoes, but these appeared to be not the tool for the day. Barebooting possible, but difficult in areas.

Bright SUN all day! On summit--Kestrel--> T=33F W=9.8mph max. Hazy, but Jay etc in Vt, Presidentials, Franconia ridge, Mossilauke, Whiteface, Marcy, Algonquin, as well as Lake C all evident.
