Date of Hike: December 18, 2010
Trail Conditions: An inch of powder at the trail head gradually increasing to 4 or 5 inches at Zeta Pass. Quite a few icy spots along the way made light traction helpful. Crossings were mostly simple except the one just before the switch backs on Carter Dome Trail where snow cover had hidden thin ice, apparently causing someone ahead of me to go through into ankle-deep water.
Special Equipment Required: Brand new MicroSpikes worked like a charm. Bare boots would have worked but MS made navigating those icy spots much simpler.
Comments: Planned a loop over Height and Carter Dome but spent too much time stopping to enjoy the scenery and take pictres!
