Trails: Ammonoosuc, Crawford Path, Monroe Loop, Crawford Path, Trinity Heights, Gulfside, Jefferson Loop, Gulfside, Jewell

Trail Conditions: The Ammo was a dream...solid snowy sidewalk with very minimal icy spots. Crawford Path up to Washington was a little more boney, but still easy moving. Gulfside once you descend from Washington becomes very icy with very little snow in most places and stays about the same all the way to Jefferson. Jewell Trail was getting pretty beat up by all the barebooters, but otherwise was soft and easy going.

Equipment: Used micros up to Gem Pool then threw on the trusty snowshoes for better grip heading up the steeper portions of the Ammo. Kept them on for the rest of the trip. Personally, I think they're needed on the Jewell b/c it's very soft and those barebooters were giving it the business today.

Comments: Great stuff today. Our first Washington ascent in Winter. Ammo was fast and the weather was beautiful once we reached treeline, great views and was able to stay in a t-shirt until the hut. Suited up there and quickly hit Monroe before the trip to Washington. Unfortunately, the clouds began to get lower and thicker once we were ascending, and decided to stay there the rest of the day. A good amount of folks hiding out in the sheltered area who all seemed to have come from Lion's Head. The trip down to the Northern section became very icy and slower going because the views became a solid 20-30 feet. The trip over to Jefferson became a slog due to no views and it was difficult to choose whether micros or snowshoes were a better choice, but we kept the snowshoes on to/from Jefferson and quickly descended the Jewell Trail in the clouds. Fun times!
