    Stabilicers?

Stabilicers not all good.... Just don't buy the "Sport" model. they are rubber and fit over your boots and look like they would work the same but they slip off the boots on inclines and could lead to a nasty spill  ....I speak thru experience. Boots :)

    stabilicers vs. crampons

What ever you do DO NOT but the "sport" model stabilicers. Mine slip off my boots especially on the up hills just when you need them the most. I took a nasty spill :( on Cardigan because one came off my boot on an icy slab. They are now in the trash. Crampons would not have been effective as...

I Am the King of Putting My Foot in My Mouth

We love... Not hiking but rafting a few years back up on the Penobscott. After every rapid another group would yell out "We love Cheez its"? So we decided to make our mantra "we love beer" (at least we were being honest). Well at the end of the runs there guide whom we had come to know pretty...

Am I Seeing What I Think I'm Seeing?

Early fall..... I'm sorry I didn't read it fully but our local paper ran a story about the maple trees being affected by some disease. Like I said I didn't have time to read it all but alot of our local trees are turning brown (not attracive) and the leaves are falling. :(

    Hiking in the Nude

Nice Boots Me and my buddy were hiking Lafeyette, Lincoln and Little Haystack a few years back. We were up on the ridge and in the distance we could see a lone hiker coming towards us. As he got closer it became apparent that he was naked  unless you count pack, boots and socks. We...

    Hiking with Tripods

I have carried a "mini pod" (has the velcro as listed above which wokks very well) for a while and although good for a smaller camera it would not hold an slr. I do believe they sell a larger one. I got mine at Camp-mor. I have just recently picked up a "sher lok" walking stick. Not only is it a...

    Slr camera on a winter's hike/climb

I wouldn't bother buying a new treking pole to get a mono pod unless you need new treking poles. I carry a $9.00 "ultrpod" from campmor. It's a mini tri pod and has a long piece of velco attached. The velcro would easily attatch to you current pole or to a tree to take those timered summit shot...

    N Kinsman 9/11

This Hike was in memorial of the victims and families of the 9-11 attacks. We started or hike at Franconia campground were we met the team going to S Kinsman quite by accident. We got to lonesome lake hut in good time where we found there was a large group going to N Kinsman also with a flag, oh...
