    Flume Slide

I met a lady that did it on Tuesday this week with her dog. I was surprised as it had rainned the previous night (I chose to go acorss Liberty over to Flume and backtrack). When we bumped into each other I asked how it was and she said "wet and hard", but they did it (including a dog)! She said...

North Conway's Too Close, Hundred Mile's too far

If you are lucky enough to be able to hike during the week that will also reduce crowds. I've summited all the peaks without a soul in sight for all my weekday hikes in the month of September including Liberty and Flume this week - awesome peaks to get alone. Even Carrigain was pretty much a...

    The Moats?

I may have to pass this one up for now skiguy unless my plans change between now and Sunday. Hope some other VFTT members take this up as I have heard so many good things about this hike. If you don't get a car spot, then Bob's suggestion sounds good too.

    The Moats?

I was hoping to do a shorter hike this weekend, but the moats is always something I've wanted to do. Will Saturday work?

    Theory on "levels" of peakbagging

This thread is interesting. The theory fits me well. The only difference is that I got the urge to bag since around #6. I am also now at stage 3 where I no longer feel the rush to finish and am exploring other hikes that I have wanted to do for a long time (welch dickey, moats, north kearsage)...

hiking while one's car is at the mercy of incompetent beings

Had lots of fun hiking with you this summer - still have a month left of comfortable hiking weather (hopefully) so I shall see you on the trails in the whites again soon! Possibly interested on your post for Friday's hike. May be in touch.

    British Tips

Such wonderful info! This is all such wonderful information. I had browsed through some websites in my free time, but the ones forwarded to me are great. I always think asking people for info is much more beneficial than screening through the good and not so good by myself. I heard of the...

    British Tips

Thanks for the info! Please keep the info/experiences of hiking in Britain coming if there is anymore out there. Recommendations on guide books/clubs will be great too. There are many to chose from so would prefer recommendations over my random choosing.

    British Tips

Any other Brits out there? hey orsonab, not sure if I am being presumptious in thinking you're a fellow brit - hi there mate, you alright? (ignore this to those of you that don't understand British :) ). Anyway, I'm heading back over to Britain in November and would love to continue with all...

    Mount Isolation

    Exactly, good clarification.

    Mount Isolation

Going back out on the RBT to route 16 wasn't a problem, but just be aware of the ski trail if you take the RBT on route 16 into Isolation.

    Mount Isolation

I definitely agree and although I am not proud to admit this, I got lost going up Rocky Branch trail on Route 16. I hate recalling the incident, but would like to save some poor soul doing the same thing I did. If you go up Rocky Branch trail you have to follow a ski trail for part of the way...

    Flags on Isolation and Monroe

I'm the gal that your crew bumped into at the Rocky branch shelter. Thanks for warning me about looking out for the cairn just before the spur to Isolation. Chances are I may have missed it otherwise. Sorry I wasn't able to join you, but well done you guys!

Edmands or Crawford path to Eisenhower?

I'm definitely getting sold on this loop thing. Seems highly recommended. I like the idea of walking the road first and get that part out the way. It wasn't something I had planned on doing, but this way allows me to see the best of both trails. 10 miles will still give me time to enjoy the...

Edmands or Crawford path to Eisenhower?

Thanks guys! I'm planning on waiting till peak season in the fall. My main objective is to enjoy the foliage and have time to enjoy at the summit. Does either path have an advantage in having the best foliage views (assuming I don't have a car spot and have to choose one trail over the other).
