    Shopping for 0F Sleeping Bag...

Try Campmor Campmor has a nice selection of 0 degree bags under 100 bucks (and yes I type out bucks :p ) Personally, I'm a fan of TNF bags, but i still have mine from about 7 years ago so i don't know how they've changed, but for cheaper Sierra Design and Kelty are supposed to be good. You've...

    Santanonis advice

jeez guys, for a second there you both scared me. I have it drawn in on my personal maps and the few times i've done it, the heard path has always been far dryer than the trail up to bradley pond. it's a shame someone carved TS up there though. Glad you had a good trip. Matt adk 46r 5048

    Santanonis advice

ok, so i'm a little behind, but are the santanoni trail/times square/panther-couchie-sant trails now official trails on the map? jeez i need to get back to the ADKs. thankfully i'm back in NY. Oh, and i say save santanoni for last (if you haven't already gone), it's my favorite view. Matt...

    Winter 46er list

I miss the simple days, "i'm doing santanoni on sunday [not really, but a guy can dream], i'll check the weather reports and will bring what i'll need for all conditions" with the obligatory 'shucks, it's raining/snowing/sunny/broken/unbroken etc.' lol mmb 46r5048

Santanonis to Duck Hole and beyond

Wow. I'll have to get up there again and actually enjoy it. The Sewards and Sants are a good three day trip, providing you can get dropped off and picked up at the ends :p

    Winter 46er list

I've got to agree with you here, except on one point, or perhaps exception. I'll be the first to admit that since i've been stuck in atlanta for the last four years (thank god i'm finally returning to New York this fall) i haven't really had the chance to do much winter climbing. If you show...

    Tabletop in Winter

Yup. there's a new, definitive herd path. they've done their best to close off the old ones. no more jumping mud puddles just to get to the path. i miss the 'dacks. MMB 5048

    Tabletop in Winter

bear left/straight, but don't take the sharp left. There is an entrance to the van hovenberg ski trail immediately past that sign on the left. the herd path is straight ahead.

Bear containers are coming to ADKs

if you want, you can sleep with food in your tent in the winter. no bears; they're all doing their sleep thing. *not that i advocate that, put in in your pack outside your tent*

Will the real "Shepherd's Tooth" please stand up...

from "Of the Summits, Of the Forests" "The Wart, originally dubbed Catamount's Rest by the Marshall-Clark climbing team, is called by some Shepherd's Tooth, a name given to the minor peak by Carolyn Schaefer (#104) and a climbing partner named Zahniser in the 1950's [sic]. For several years...

    Adirondack Group Camping Question

no more permits, they dropped them several years ago, but i believe (and someone please back me up on this incase it went down to seven) that eight is now the max. group limit. it's all good. *side rant* (damn the reboot last year loosing me my senior member status) (damn atlanta for keeping...

    Biking on Elk Lake Road?

Sadly enough I miss my blackflies and now I'm stuck in atlanta for the summer. Someone please do a sunset giant hike for me (which as far as sunset hikes go, is the most amazing one in the 'dacs. just stay up top for the very start of it and then you can literally race the sun down the...

    Marshall/Cliff/Redfield

I finished on Marshall (look for the view spot. you can see almost all of the southern 'adks. Email me for more info) You can actually take your fullpack about .5 up the trail if i remember because it's not that bad at first and i'd trust leaving it on the herd path more than by colden dam...
