Bryans AT update Hey all Have not reported in since he started although most of you may have checked his trailjournals.com site... He called tonite...leaving Damascus VA and hiking as far as he can before hitching a ride back to damascus for the famous "Trail Days Festival" full of AT Hikers...

Bryan just called me...hes 31 miles in after 3 days...today was a Nero day...4 miles to Neels Gap for supplies...Having a ball...did 12 miles yesterday....hit 90 deg all three days... Anyway thanks for all your interest in his trip...I wont tie up the thread with updates...I will update all you...

Great TR Congrats...Pretty good pace too...2 plus years...took me 9 years... I was also a smoker at the start...you'll love the new lung capacity when you quit... I am debating on the 4k gathering...not sure if i can make it..I finished in Sept. If so...I'll see ya there!! K

He waited to pick a trail name based on the first couple weeks of experiences...interestigly enough, the volunteer checking in hikers said there are a large number of hikers who are waiting to pick their trail name... BTW..as of yesterday 345 hikers have begun... His pack is a Granite Gear...

Thanks Danno, Hope to hit some Maine peaks next season....got a few to do in NH this fall...something this weekend, not sure yet and then up for the flags over 48...then off to the Land of Darren for a couple weeks. Pub sounds good... K

Double Bow Havent done the "new peak" yet, ..will get out there next year, hopefully coming down lincoln slide this time... carving trees is a disgrace...we complain about rangers removing cairns from this spot and hikers do something stupid like that...jeez... K
