Conditions: No blow downs. Hard packed snow conditions. The trail was post holed on some previous day when the snow was soft. From Madison Hut to Adams there was minimal snow. The route was frosted over.

special equipment: The hard packed trail to Madison Hut was slippery but firm. I used micro-Katoola's and Chris used stabilicers to all the way to the summit of Adams. We carried crampons but they were not necessary. We decided to snow shoe down from the HLut to Appalachia. Snow shoes were not necessarry because of the firm snow but we decided it would help to avoid post holes & smooth out the trail. We felt we made better time descending as a result of wearing them. Strong winds made wind chill low which necessitated full Winter gear.

Comments: It was another great day in the higher summits. It was great to be able to bag a another peak with Chris. We saw a few people on Madison and ran into two parties on Adams. There was no visibility on the sumjit of Adams. Madison appeared to be out of the clouds most of the day. Winds were strong. This along with the frost covered rocks above tree line made conditions challenging.
